Conference and Cornbelly’s

Today was a big day. I got up early and went swimming, and then I came home and made popovers before heading over to the farmer’s market with everyone.

Then we went home for General Conference, after which I did some errands before returning for round two of conference. After the afternoon session, we went to Cornbelly’s. We promised Lydia we would take her there Wednesday, but it was closed. Today was the first day since Wednesday that we’ve had a chance to make good on that promise. Abe just watched the Priesthood session after the girls went down, and that gave us enough time at Cornbelly’s.

I am so paranoid about lice that I blew dry Lydia's hair tonight because she tried on three dresses at the princess costume tent.

In addition to these activities, I: washed, dried, and folded three loads of laundry, vacuumed the downstairs and upstairs, picked up the whole house, scrubbed all of the dusty surfaces in the house, cleaned the bathroom that I neglected to clean yesterday, went grocery shopping at three different stores, disinfected the kitchen sink, and threw out a bunch of trash. I think I might not be able to move tomorrow. Good thing it’s conference again. I can stay home all day!

play date and dinner with the Marchants

This morning we had a really fun play date with Ada, Liv and Paige.

I tried to make popovers today for the second time since moving into the house. My oven has heating issues, so it's hard to make them quite right here. I am going to try again tomorrow.

This evening we had dinner with Todd, Ashley and Peter. We forgot to take pictures! They are lovely, and we enjoyed our time with them so much.

Then Abe and I cleaned the house, and he’s about to go for a run. He still hasn’t recovered from the stress of the week. Hopefully this weekend will help.

A gnome and celebration dinner

Today the girls did yoga in Little Gym:

After sushi, Lydia had preschool while Mary and I stopped by Qualtrics to pick up Abe for a short break. We got Mary’s Halloween costume!

IMG_3346 IMG_3344 IMG_3343 IMG_3340After that, Abe and I went out to dinner with Lucas, Kim, Sterling and Arielle.

IMG_3355Arielle baked an amazing cake which we went to her house to eat. We learned a lot about dogs there because Arielle and Sterling breed Boxers, and they also have the only sweet Yorkie I have ever met. This dog didn’t bark once and just loved to cuddle everyone.

Here’s the cake!

IMG_3359Also, I forgot to take a picture yesterday of the flowers Abe brought home. He was so sweet to bring me flowers. I took a picture of both the flowers and Mary during her nap. She fell asleep in the car today and stayed determinedly asleep through four car transitions!

IMG_1495 IMG_1496But she’s still up now, and Abe and I are pooped. That nap really powered her up!

Abe hits his quota

The big news of the day was that Abe hit his quota! It was a total miracle. As of 4:30pm this afternoon, he still did not know if he would hit or not. We feel very grateful for how everything turned out, and I feel sure God’s hand was all over this day and this quarter. Abe billed over sixty percent of his quota today, the last day of the quarter. I have spent the last three months praying God would bless Abe with “water from the rock,” and today that prayer was answered in a rather dramatic way.

For me personally, this day was full of emotional downturns (except for Abe’s news), but I’m feeling a little more upbeat now. I felt bad to cry during dinner, especially when Abe was on such a high, but he was so understanding and helped me feel much better.

We went to the library in the morning and ballet in the afternoon. I have had one recent “stress” nightmare about not having the girls’ Halloween costumes in time (hard life, I know), so I shopped during ballet. After all that, I think I will probably end up buying Lydia’s costume online. But I did find a really cute gnome costume for Mary that goes on clearance tomorrow, so I think I’ll take Mary to get it during Lydia’s preschool tomorrow.

Today was the first time Mary qualified to go to the big kid story time...but we were late. So instead, Lydia went to the little kid story time with Mary. The letter of the day was "d," and the puppet show was about dinosaurs, so I think it turned out just fine.
