Ammon dresses up

Ammon is at the stage where he LOVES dressing up, but since all of our dress ups are for girls, he has developed a love for dresses and all things princess. This is Ammon enjoying a tea party in a witch costume:

He has always loved to accessorize. Underneath the costume he is wearing a bright red winter vest which he insisted on wearing all day, even though the afternoon was so hot and the car was boiling. He still wore it in the car, and of course he then fell asleep. It was very, very warm.

I went to therapy today and learned I have an oppositional mindset and don’t do great with authority. That was interesting and sort of depressing. I took a long nap afterward while Ammon and Clarissa had nap time, and I felt sooooo tired for the rest of the day.

But one beautiful moment came when I was wilting with fatigue after school, and while I was on the porch with the little kids, I heard Lydia start to practice her harp inside. Normally I have to bug the bajeebers out of her to get her to practice, but this day she did it all by herself and practiced beautifully. It was a highlight of…my life. It was a dream come true, honestly. I walked inside and interrupted her to give her a huge, long hug and thanked her for being so good.

Abe had to work late, and since it was our turn to clean the church, I took all four kids over by myself. It actually went better than expected but was still incredibly stressful since there was no way on earth I could keep Ammon in eyesight. In fact, all of my kids except Clarissa (who I had strapped to me) were scattered all around the church, and that makes me so nervous. So after an hour even though it wasn’t al done we packed up and headed home. Lydia biked home with the neighbor boys and this time they made sure not to leave her in the dust. (Last time she biked with them they sped ahead and she got a little lost…)

Abe and I went to bed super early, which was really helpful since both Clarissa and Ammon got up a lot at night, and then we got up early to go running in the morning.
