Ms. Olga’s picnic

Mary really wanted to attend the June picnic for Ms. Olga’s students, so we attended even though Mary has switched teachers. It was raining and thundering off and on, but in between storms there was sun. It was hot, but people seemed to enjoy visiting.

My least favorite part was the Jeopardy game that tested musical knowledge. I didn’t know what was going on but was put on a team with students, so I didn’t know if I was supposed to be contributing like an adult or student–was I supposed to hold back or fully participate? I had no idea. And I had no idea of the answers to most of the questions, which was embarrassing. I don’t know why it was embarrassing! But for some reason it was.

It was not as awkward seeing Ms. Olga as you would think. She addressed the elephant in the room right away saying it was so cute that Abe asked after quitting if we could still come to the picnic.

The kids played a lot and spent the good last hour chasing fireflies. They got a fair number of bug bites!

There was a ton of food and somehow we ended up with trays of leftovers, which was super helpful for the coming week.
